Eligibility Criteria

Grade 1 Entry Requirements

  • Age 5 years by December 31 of admission year
  • Original birth certificate required
  • Up-to-date immunization records
  • Proof of residence in school zone

Grade 6 Entry Requirements

  • Completion of Grade 5 with good standing
  • Scholarship exam results preferred
  • Transfer letter from previous school
  • School leaving certificate

A/L Entry Requirements

  • Minimum 3 C passes at O/L examination
  • Relevant stream subjects passed
  • Application from previous school principal
  • O/L certificate (original)

Is this a government school?
Yes, BT/PD/Paddiruppu MMV is a National School fully funded and operated under the Ministry of Education, Sri Lanka.
Is there an entrance exam?
Only for Grade 6 entry — a merit-based assessment is conducted. Grade 1 admission is based on age and documents.
Are there hostel facilities?
Currently no hostel facilities are available. We are a day school. Students must arrange their own transport.
What is the medium of instruction?
Tamil is the primary medium of instruction. English is taught as a second language from Grade 1.
Are scholarships available?
Yes, the government Grade 5 scholarship scheme applies. Additional merit-based support may be available from the alumni association.
What are the school hours?
School hours are 7:30 AM to 1:30 PM, Monday to Friday. Office hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM.
Can I visit the school before applying?
Yes, open days are held every first Saturday of the month from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. No appointment needed.
How many students per class?
Maximum 40 students per class to ensure quality individual attention from teachers.
